Minimserver dsd4/6/2023 ![]() Both UAPP and the Mojo report the files as DSD. UPDATE: I have now copied three DSD files (DSD128 and 256) to the microSD card in the S4 and they play flawlessly. Transcoding to DoP on Minimserver on the NAS, turning DoP on and off on UAPP, but I always get PCM on the DAC. Playing PCM files all the way to 24bit/384kHz works fine.ĭSD64 files play back in good quality, but are reported by the Mojo as 176.4kHzĭSD128 files play back in good quality, but are reported by the Mojo as 352.8kHzĭSD256 files play back in good quality, but are reported by the Mojo as 705.6kHzĪs the Chord Mojo only reports samplerates with a color of the LED and I was not too sure about the bitrate it reported (it definitely did not report native DSD), I connected the S4 to a Weiss DAC 202+ (which is capable of DoP on its USB input) and it reports the signal samplerate in clear text. UAPP latest version, DSD over PDM checked This support requires MinimServer 0.8. MinimServer 0.8.4 with MinimStreamer - no transcoding enabled Added support for transcoding DSD (.dsf files) to native PCM (wav, wav16, wav24, L16 and L24). I do not want to make a debate Minimserver vs LMS here. Also the library scan (or rescans) was/are made in very decent times. It was responding satisfactorily and I didn t have problem steaming even 384KHz or DSD files to my rpi. Depending on that result you could reevaluate your need for native playback of surround DSD.I would like to stream DSD64, 128 and 256 files from my Synology NAS via a Samsung S4 to a Chord Mojo, which is capable of playing these file types. installed and used for quite some time Minimserver which didn t seem to stress the nas so much. My advice would be to get a hold of a stereo DAC that converts DSD and PCM natively, like the Holo May, to test if you can actually hear a difference. Using a pure USB dac for surround is, for most of us, not gonna work though, since we do not normally have the chance to set up the surround speakers in the perfect positions to avoid the need for digital corrections of the distances and then there is still the room, which would have to be close to perfect as well. Converting DSD (.dsf files) to FLAC does reduce gain and changes the overall perception when played along with it. There are very few DACs out there that will leave the DSD stream untouched, the Holo May is one of them, but its only stereo, I'm not sure how Exasound's surround DACs handle DSD, but they will likely convert it as well. 16/44 Flac's sound fantastic but DSD's even. The moment you use any of the Yamaha's DSP features (this includes setting up the distances/delays for the surround system) literally any hardware out there has to convert DSD to PCM since DSP cannot be used with a DSD stream. Especially in the USB Audio settings (Which does affect sound sig for local files as well) were changing from DSD to PCM (Already sounds more direct/better than the stock Mango player to my ears) to > DoP (DSD over PCM) which gets you an even purer sound signature (Native DSD has a veil over it). Download the application and open the folder 2. This is not a problem though, since your Yamaha does not natively decode DSD anyways! Pretty much all AVRs will accept DSD but will then convert it within their digital section to their DAC's native resolution before actually converting it to analog. Supports dual and multi-channel output Supports DFF and DSF output mode Transfers stored metadata from the original ISO file to the resulting DSD file Single file conversion or multiple file conversion in a given folder SCREEN SHOT DOWNLOADS USAGE MAC OSX 1. However, MinimServer does not see the external USB drive. I play through MinimServer which is installed on the NAS, controlled with BubbleUPNP mobile app. A 3 TB USB drive is connected to the NAS. It will therefore be either DoP or DSD will be fully converted to PCM to send it through the HDMI. It is connected via network to DAC Gustard R26 which has an internal streamer. In the case of PCs this is due to the drivers not supporting it. However: HDMI can in most cases not transport DSD natively, your Oppo is an exception here. Adding a leading zero to a number produces a smaller sort value, so '02' is sorted before '2' and after '1'. Positive integers in tag values are sorted in numeric order, so 'Symphony 2' is sorted before 'Symphony 10'. The NUC will be able to put out DSD through the HDMI port. MinimServer uses a combination of alphabetic and numeric sorting. I am using an older NUC with an Intel i3 Quad core in a passively colled chassis and have no problem playing multichannel quad DSD through that. Think of it like miniMServer for Lumin or AMM (Aurender Media Manager). If you don't plan to use DSP within Roon (which you probably don't, since your Yamaha does all that), a fairly low powered machine will do here. As suggested by Anup, I enabled DSD bitstreaming in JRMC and that now plays DSD files. PCM to DSD, DAC & Preamplifier that delivers a Pure Class A Triode signal. Roon is ideally used on a standalone server on an Intel NUC. The easiest way to achieve this will probably be Roon, but not in the way you did it. ![]()
